The Ultra NORWAY Race takes place in the north of Norway, 350 km north of the Arctic Circle. The start will be in the Lyngen Alps and the finish line will be on the waterfront of Tromsø, the city of adventurers.

Participants will discover surprising and magical scenes, while crossing landscapes of high mountains dotted with prevalent blue fjords. On the last kilometers, the competitors will see the Arctic Cathedral and cross the iconic Tromsø Bridge with stunning views over the city.

In July, we will benefit of the midnight sun and we will see the beautiful scenery of northern Norway in the dazzling Arctic brightness.

Challenge

140 km non-stop

The Ultra NORWAY Race is a non-stop foot race of 140 km, alone or by team of 2 runners, with 9000 meters of positive and negative elevation. Competitors are in food self-supported. Each competitor must carry a backpack containing the compulsory equipment, food and personal equipment.

Competitors must follow the GPS tracks given by the organization. There are checkpoints at regular intervals: the two members of the team must be controlled together.

The limit time to cover the entire distance is 48 hours. To be authorized to continue the event, runners have to respect the time limits for passing through the various checkpoints. A technical support and a medical team are present during the whole event.

  • 8 am: Appointment at the Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromsø
  • 9 am: Transfer from Tromsø to Lyngseidet (3 hours drive)
  • 2 pm: Installation at the Magic Mountain Lodge in Lyngseidet
  • 3 pm: Administrative, technical and medical checks
  • 7 pm: Dinner all together & overnight at the lodge

Friday 19 July 2024

  • 8 am: Breakfast all together at the lodge
  • 11 am: Transfer from Lyngseidet to the race start point
  • 12 pm: Start of the Ultra NORWAY Race
  • 140 km / 9000 mD + / 9000 mD- / 48 hours

From the Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July 2024

The arrival of the Ultra NORWAY Race takes place on the seafront in the city of Tromsø. The time limit to cover the race route is 48 hours. Upon arrival, participants can check into the Ishavshotel.

What equipment are compulsory to participate in the Ultra NORWAY Race?

During the pre-race checks, each participant must present the following equipment:

      • Knife (blade: 3,5 cm min.) x1

How much food should we have for the competition?

Each entrant must provide his/her own food for 2 days. Each competitor must have 2 000k/calories per day, that is to say a minimum of 4 000k/calories, otherwise he/she will be penalized. Gas stoves are strictly forbidden.

How will I be able to orient myself on the course?

Participants must follow the route planned by the organization under penalty of penalty. Participants will receive the GPS track in GPX format before departure. In addition, participants will have topographical maps before departure with the route, distances, directions to follow as well as the particularities of the route. The absence of a maps during the event will result in a penalty. The route is not marked by the organizing team.

When will we have water during the competition?

Participants receive water at checkpoints. It is imperative to have your bidons (compulsory equipment) because we do not give bottles. In addition, we do not distribute hot water.

What are the temperatures in the Lyngen Alps in July?

The weather in the Lyngen Alps is very variable. Theoretical temperatures in July are between 12 and 15°C.

How to join the group in Tromsø?

Registration fees do not include air tickets. Participants must individually manage transport (plane and airport transfer) to reach the meeting point with the group. Participants must be on Thursday July 18 on 8am at the Scandic Ishavshotel.

How do I validate my registration?

To register for the Ultra NORWAY Race, we ask you to send us the registration form duly completed and signed. This document can be sent by mail or email. You must also send us a copy of your passport, a repatriation insurance certificate. Finally, to confirm your registration, you must pay the deposit. -> Entry fees details
